22 August 2005; By Godfrey Ikhemuemhe, Vanguard

Glo Mobile, the wholly indigenous Nigerian network, moved last week to prove that its ongoing Second Anniversary Double Slam Promotion, which gives subscribers an opportunity to win unbelievable prizes is real, by bringing the vendors in the promo to testify to their involvement.

The three partners that supplied the 42 gifts to be won in the promo, described as the mother of all promos, include Fara Park, which is supplying the homes, Honda Place, which is supplying the Honda cars, and Dana Motors, which is supplying the Kia cars. Kehinde Oyeleke, Executive Director of Fara Park, who represented the Construction company that built the homes to be won in the promo said that the winners would be in for a pleasant surprise. He said that the homes to be won are exquisitely furnished with all the equipment that would make life comfortable for any family.

Continuing, he said: "Fara Park is an estate we take pride in. We want anybody who likes to take a drive around that estate and tells us his impression. However, we derive a bigger pride in this relationship with Globacom. We are proud to be part of this great promotion. I don't know whether as vendors we are qualified to win but I can tell you that even at my level, any of these prizes can change my life".

Mr. Parvir Singh, the Group Managing Director of the Stallion group, owners of The Honda Place, one of the vendors to the promotion declared the promotion as "one in a million and unmatched", adding that the magnitude is unheard of in the history of promotions in Nigeria.

Mr. P.S Mulay, General Manager, Dana Motors, vendors of KIA Sorento Jeep and Kia Picanto Salon cars lined up for the promotion, said that Dana "is part of the promotion because like Globacom, KIA believes in changing the lives of people by offering the best products, impeccable after sales services and ensuring that what we promise we keep. We are very proud to be associated with this promotion", he said.

Glo Mobile is spending a whopy 350 million on the prizes for the promo, which many have described as unprecedented in the history of promotions in Nigeria.

Both new and existing subscribers on the Glo network qualify for the Glo Second Anniversary Double Slam promotion in which subscribers will win six town homes, six Mercedes Benz E240, six Kia Sorento four wheel drive jeeps, six VW Polo saloon cars, six Honda City salon cars and 12 Kia Picanto cars.

Mr. Mohammed Jameel, Chief Operating Officer of Globacom said that Globacom from inception has shown that it has come to make a good change in the life of Nigerians. "We do what we say", he said.

He said the promotion is the company's way of saying thank you to old subscribers for their patronage and commitment and to new subscribers for choosing the most innovative network.

In his presentation, Amoebi Fiderikumo of the Globacom Marketing Department, said draws for the promotion will hold in Lagos on August 25th and October 31st, 2005; Enugu on September 8, Kano on September 22, Abuja on October 6 and Port Harcourt on October 20, 2005.

He said entries for the draw in each zone close two days before the draw date, adding that the draw is opened to existing and new Glo subscribers. In addition, all existing prepaid subscribers should not have passed the grace period by this cut-off date and existing postpaid subscribers should not have any outstanding by the cut-off date.

Jameel said the three announcements made by the marketing department were designed to make Glo Mobile's current six million subscriber-capacity network available to more Nigerians at affordable rate.

These special offerings are coming on the heels of the extension of validity for Glo subscribers who now have 20-day access to the network for N500 worth of recharge, 45 days for N1000 recharge, 90 days for N2000 recharge and 120 days for both N3000 and N5000 recharges respectively.
